roots

My Journey began on an organic farm in central PA, where I learned to make my own fun, work hard, and not take myself too seriously. Wanderlust drove me to new opportunities and I made stops in New York, Paris, Kenya and New Zealand before putting down roots in Philadelphia.

My work in Philadelphia started with the goal of combatting obesity in urban schools. It wasn’t long before I recognized the need for a new approach to public health, one that was less about telling people what to eat, and more about engaging them in something positive and dynamic.

I realized marketing isn't just for fortune 500 companies; even a nonprofit must first reach its audience before it can be heard. And if we want to change cultural health norms and hold our own next to Beyoncé in a Pepsi commercial, we might need more than a one-pager about vegetables. With this in mind that I developed HYPE Healthy You. Positive Energy., which utilized swag, hip hop dancing, professional athletes, and youth leadership, to convey the importance of being healthy in a relevant and empowering way. All the sudden choosing an apple over a bag of chips wasn’t something to be embarrassed of, it was something to celebrate.

Motivated by the success of using marketing strategy and branding to cultivate social change, I was eager to continue my professional growth and joined the marketing team at Whole Foods Market. As part of this corporate setting, I developed targeted initiatives and directed large-scale partnerships, all the while continuing to be an advocate for win-win cause marketing opportunities that established visibility for the brand and invested in community development and sustainability.

I subscribe to what my fellow Philadelphian, Benjamin Franklin, once said “do well by doing good” and I am on a mission to prove it’s possible.

Look forward to meeting you!
